On 31st May 2023, the SLEs team conducted an online workshop for teachers, as part of the Career Advisers Network: STEM Careers Network event at EUN.
During the workshop, the participants were introduced to the SLEs project and were encouraged to design their own Learning Ecologies / open-schooling environments. In breakout rooms, teachers worked in groups to reflect on real-life problems, open-schooling opportunities in their communities and ways open-schooling can be implemented.
By the end of the workshop, the teachers had created innovative learning ecologies concepts with clear objectives that brought together several key stakeholders, and STEM and non-STEM school subjects. Their learning ecologies presented realistic solutions and reflected the realities of their communities and cities.
The workshop was successful and provided an opportunity to the teachers to learn more about open schooling, collaborate with other teachers and come up with solutions. It also helped the SLEs team understand the challenges of open schooling, the opportunities it offers to teachers to build on their existing practices and reflect on ways the SLEs project can fill in the gaps.
